On 9 November at the Council of the European Athletics Association was approved and officially announced the urban circuit of the next European Athletics Championships in Barcelona between July 27 and on 1 August 2010. The novelty is that the start and the end of the race from both, the marathon and walking races, will be not in Lluis Companys Stadium (Olympic Stadium). The objetive, especially in the marathon, will be get a street circuit, 10km and 4 loops, through the downtown with its most prominent landmarks.
As shown in the picture below, this is a fairly flat race with a distance of 10km which must be given four times starting from the Passeig de Picasso, near park of the Ciutadela and touring as neuralgic points as the Arc de Triomf, Plaça de Catalunya, Passeig de Gracia, the Gran Vía and the Colon Monument and more. The women's marathon will celebrates on July 31 while the male will be on August 1. You can enjoy the route and profile in the image below:
